When you think of the ultimate it-girl, you think back to endlessly scrolling on your phone through TikTok and seeing the perfect girl with the most perfect routine.

All of those girls have the perfect life because they believe they have the perfect life.

They simply romanticize their life to create healthy habits. These girls follow self-care rituals to create a better version of themselves.

In instances of experiencing mundane Mondays or feeling down on Sundays, it becomes essential to romanticize your life.

Individuals can begin this journey by envisioning themselves as a Broadway star in a musical. Enjoying oneself and prioritizing your mental and physical well-being is not a crime.

To create a self-care ritual is to find joy in the simplest things in life. By romanticizing your life to create an outlook so luxurious, you’ll find yourself feeling like a new and better version of yourself!

Here is a list of a 5-step self-care ritual to create a better you.

Self-Care Ritual 1: Journaling

It sounds straightforward. Get a nice journal, grab a pen, and start jotting down a few notes about your feelings for the day.

Something as simple as curating a list of emotions can help our body regulate our mood for the day.

Put on your favorite playlist, a comfort show, your favorite YouTuber, or complete silence in the background, and just write.

Let yourself just talk and talk on a piece of paper. Vent, imagine, manifest, and reflect on anything and everything.

Journaling can be seen as a way to destress and declutter your mind from all the fog that builds up in your life.

Write down what has made you sad, what has made you happy, and any emotion or occurrence that has happened.

When you write and reflect in your journal, you are beginning to appreciate the smallest things in life. When you can mindfully understand and appreciate the simple joys in life, you are beginning that first step in your self-care ritual toward a better you!

A trendy but still useful journal is the Five Minute Journal. It’s perfect for those who don’t want all the commitment to journaling, but still want the discipline of writing your goals!

Self-Care Ritual 2: Waking up early

Understandably, the majority of individuals hate it. Finding the strength to step out of the coziness of the sheets to confront the new day is scary.

However, waking up early to start the day before peak sunrise can jumpstart the day.

Waking up early provides can additional time in the morning routine to engage in activities at your own pace.

Creating the time to wake up early leads to enoying one extra cup of coffee, indiuldging in a warm shower, or catching up on a book.

Establishing an alarm as early as a 6 a.m. wake-up time may contribute to a better sense of self and an improved perspective of life.

Enjoy the sunshine. Do the morning yoga you’ve always wanted to do. Take the time to do your extensive skincare routine with all the masks and serums.

Many simple things that seem boring can be the most exciting parts of your day and help you romanticize your life.

Setting aside the time to take care of your physical and mental well-being with just the first step of waking up earlier than you normally do is one perfect step in your self-care ritual.

Self-Care Ritual 3: Learn to love your alone time.

Understand your body and what you want. If you don’t want to go out with your friends one night because you want to save money- no one should make you feel guilty about that.

Humans tend to have FOMO (Fear of Missing Out). But someone knows they don’t want to, then it’s simple. DON’T GO.

Understand that it’s okay to slow down. It’s okay that you don’t go out every single Friday and Saturday night. It’s okay that you just want to cuddle with your dog on the couch while binge-watching Gilmore Girls

It’s okay to say no simply because you don’t want to do anything. It’s okay to have those days where you want to stay inside.

A lot people think going out equals having fun. But some of women love their alone time, and that’s alright.

Being alone and indulging in relaxing activities like finishing up a book and watching a show can improve yourself if that is what makes you happy. It’s all about finding what makes YOU happy, and continuing those habits.

Self-Care Ritual 4: Find a new hobby.

When romanticizing your life, starting new hobbies that interest you can lead to a better sense of self.

Whether it‘s learning how to bake, cook, paint, or knit, the skills you learning can be such a reward because people can feel successful knowing that the simplest beauties of such simple tasks were found.

Creating success means satisfaction and goals have been met, therefore many people can find themselves in a citation where they have improved themselves.

Starting that new hobby is an essential step in a self-care ritual because it shows resilience and confidence to become successful in the interests in life.

Self-Care Ritual 5: Learn to love the simple joys of life.

It’s okay to have those slow mornings where there is no need for a rush. Understand that although you’re not super busy, that doesn’t mean you’re failing; it’s life telling you that there is a window of opportunity to relax and enjoy.

Take the time to appreciate everything around you. Big or small.

Just like the steps earlier listed for your self-care ritual, this is the most important one. When you learn to enjoy the simplest and smallest things, you can take all the steps above to prepare yourself for a better outlook on life.

Final thoughts.

No matter how boring you may think it is, overall, enjoying these small things will help you relax.

When there is no rush to get to your next destination, it gives your body and brain a little bit more time to appreciate everything in life, no matter how big or small.

At the end of the day, these are just a few simple steps that can be easily followed to romanticize your life.

When following these steps, remember that the whole point of participating in a self-care ritual is to enjoy, slow down, and appreciate the beauties that tend to be overlooked.

Adding these small changes may take you a few days or even a few weeks to creep into your life, but these steps will help you keep yourself in check.

When romanticizing your life, remember that you’re only creating a better version of yourself and no one else.
